Tanah Lot means "Land in the Sea" in the Balinese language. It is Located in Tabanan, about 20 kilometres North West of Denpasar Bali, the temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the many years by the ocean tide.

Tanah Lot is claimed to be of the 16th-century Dang Hyang Nirartha. During his travels along the south coast he saw the rock-island's beautiful setting and decided to rest there. Later with the help of fisherman this Temple was built. The main deity of the temple is Dewa Baruna or Bhatara Segara, who is the Sea God or Sea Power.

Indonesian Rupiah IDR 20,000 for (adult) domestic tourists, 
IDR 60,000 for (adult) foreigners. 
IDR 30,000 for children).

Tanah Lot Temple is open from 7 am to 7 pm. We recommend you to get there as early as possible, as the place gets really crowded from 10 am.

Tanah Lot Temple is a very busy and crowded by visitors , especially on sunny days, there are hundreds even thousands of tourists around trying to get the best views of the temple from various angles and locations.

The best time to visit the temple is during the low seasons (mostly from mid-January to mid-April and mid-September to mid-December) during these periods. 

The best time to visit the temple is during the evenings at sunset, as the view is absolutely breathtaking, however, expect more crowds during this time.
