Second wave of Covid-19 & India

The second wave of covid wreaked havoc on India.More than 136,844 (as on date 21.05.2021) people have died since 1st February 2021. 

During this time, India was in disarray, with ICUs and hospitals overflowing with Covid-19 patients.There was a severe shortage of Medical Breathing Oxygen, including life-saving drugs for emergency use. 

People were dying outside of hospitals and on the way to hospitals. 

All over the Indian states had the same story about the shortage of oxygen beds. 

Several NGOs and volunteers from the Congress & other opposition parties have stepped forward to assist the stranded people.They arranged oxygen, medicine and food for the needy.

The famous journalist Prabhu Chawla ran a poll on twitter asking questions like "Which Chief Minister has handled the second # Covid wave most effectively?"

One can see from the poll result,  267,248 people participated in polling. 

62% of people voted in favour of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and he is at number one position. 

With 32% of Vote UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is in second position. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was in third position with a 5% vote. 

Maharashtra did a remarkable job in handling the Second Covid-19 wave. The numbers were very high for daily positive cases and also the mortality. 

MH Government Role in Second Wave

The Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his whole team worked day and night to control the Covid situation. First, they announced the lockdown with a relief package for low-wage workers.

This helps the government to stop people from coming out for their livelihood. 

The government used the Testing, Tracing, and Quarantine Formula, which assisted the government in preventing the virus from spreading further.

To control the situation, the MH government is seeking assistance from the center for adequate Oxygen and Medical support, as well as vaccine. Also global tendering to get more Vaccine available to their citizens.

As of today, the graph is declining and numbers have down drastically.

Since 1st February 2021, total postive cases detected were 35,03,278, a very big number. Handling so many Contegius Covid-19 patients was a difficult task for any government, but Uddhav Thackeray and the Maha Agadhi Government did an outstanding job.

The total deaths due to covid-19 is 35,576 since 1st February 2021, which is also higher than any state. In spite of so many deaths, there have been no complaints about dead body disposal so far. 

Conclusion

The overall rating given by the Twitterati validates the work of the MH Government. 

Also the above numbers and other Social media platforms supports the work of Udhav Thakrey.
