Our way of living has changed in the modern computer age. We spend most of our time in the office and home with computers, laptops, iPads and mobiles. There is a very high amount of pollution in the environment. The air contains particles of pollution.
All these reasons have a bad effect on our eyes and weaken our eyesight.
In some cases, weakness of the eyes is also due to heredity. In this modern age, not having a balanced diet in our lifestyle and food affects the eyes and weakens the light.

Lack of nutrients in food:
Not Consuming required amount of nutrients for the eyes in our food has a bad effect on vision.
Vitamin-C, vitamin-A and vitamin-E, Folic Acid, Zinc, and Omega-3 fatty acids play an important role in keeping the eyes healthy. All these substances are present in fruits, vegetables and other food items around us. If these essential nutrients are not consumed or reduced for an extended period of time, the eyesight deteriorates and other terrible diseases related to the eyes develop, such as age-related eye disease, cataract, and so on.
The impact of lifestyle on Eyesight:
We already knows, in the modern era, the time we spend on computers, mobiles etc., has a bad effect on the eyes. Hence, continuous reading or working on the computer till late at night has a bad effect on the eyes. To avoid this bad effect, we should stop working at short intervals and give our eyes a rest.
How to improve eyesight?
To avoid damage to the eyesight, attention should be paid to the following:
- The eyes should be washed twice a day with cold water.
- Adequate illumination should be taken care of while reading or working on the computer. Reading in low light and doing fine work has a bad effect on the eyes. 4
- Your eyes should be protected from the dust, pollution and strong sunlight in the environment. Good quality goggles should be used to protect the eyes from UV rays in strong sunlight. Ultraviolet rays cause damage to the eyes.
- Reading or working on the computer for a long time, embroidery, stitching or doing any fine work has a bad effect on the eyes, so stopping these activities for a while should keep the eyes relaxed.
- Periodical medical examination of the eyes should be done and the correct number of glasses should be used. Eye light will not be affected. Anti Glare glasses should be used while working on a computer and mobile phones.
Vitamins and diet for Healthy Eyesight:
Rich nutritious food should be used to increase eyesight. Our food is essential for the eyes to have nutrients, minerals and vitamins.
Our food should be rich in vitamin-C, vitamin-A and vitamin-E, folic acid, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Vitamin A is necessary for the eyes:
Vitamin A is most important for the eyes. Vitamin A is found in plenty of anti-oxidants which are very important for our eyes and immune system. Vitamin A protects our cornea and also helps in increasing the eyes sight. Vitamin A is found abundantly in green leafy vegetables, oranges, peppermint, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, Milk, Paneer and carrots. We can complete vitamin A deficiency by adopting these vegetables and fruits in our daily life.
Vitamin C is necessary for the eyes:
Vitamin C-rich fruits, vegetables and foods contain abundant antioxidants that regulate how our blood flow operates better. Vitamin C should be consumed to make the blood flow smoothly in the retina of the eyes. It is certified by doctors that eating vitamin C rich food is helpful in preventing cataract and blindness. Vitamin C is found in abundance in strawberries, kiwis, cabbage, oranges and lemons, coriander leaves, capsicum, green chillies, guava and amla. By adopting these diets, we can maintain the amount of vitamin C in our body.
Folic acid for the eyes:
Folic acid helps in the formation of new cells in our body. Lack of folic acid increases the chances of anemia in the body. Its deficiency poses a risk of side effects in the veins related to the eyes. Folic acid is found in plenty in green leafy vegetables, spinach, coriander, peppermint, cabbage, broccoli, bananas, beans and walnuts. By using some of these in your daily life, you can increase the light of the eyes by meeting the deficiency of folic acid in the body.
Omega 3 fatty acids for the eyes:
Omega-3 fatty acids are a very important element that can increase your eyesight by consuming them. Omega 3 fatty acids keep the retina of the eye healthy, so that there is no loss of eyesight. Omega 3 fatty acids are abundant in linseed (Flaxseed), chia seed, Brussels sprouts, walnuts and soybean oil. By incorporating some of these into your daily diet, you can compensate for the body's lack of omega-3 fatty acids.
Vitamin E for eyesight:
Vitamin-E deficiency in our body can cause many diseases in the eyes, including fatal diseases such as blurring, cataract or blindness.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that is fat-soluble. Antioxidants are helpful in removing harmful substances called "free radicals" from our body. Sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, wheat germ, mangoes, avocados and butternut squash are rich in vitamin E.

Healthy living lifestyle with proper care will enhance vision. Healthy diet rich in nutrients and minerals required for healthy Eyes also keeps your eyes protected from the diseases and loss of visions.
