Mojito
| Mojito Cocktail Recipe
Introduction
Mojitos are a popular cocktail, but they aren't just for summer. Mojitos are refreshing, fun and a great way to celebrate a warm summer day! The key to making them is the mint leaves — they bring the flavor into every sip!
Ingredients of a Mojito
Lime juice
Mint leaves (optional)
Sugar (optional)
Ice cubes
Soda water to fill up your glass
1/2 serving of fresh lime juice
Mojito Preparation
Use a lime squeezer to obtain the right amount of juice. You can also use bottled lime juice, but it should be as fresh as possible and preferably from your own garden!
The amount of lime juice you add will depend on how big (or small) your glass is, so keep that in mind when making your mojito. If you're making one for someone else, start with about 1/4 cup (60 ml) for each person; if you're making one for yourself and want it extra strong, go ahead and add up to 3/4 cup (80 ml).
Add 1/4 cup mint leaves
Mint leaves are the key ingredient in a mojito. You can use spearmint or peppermint, which both have similar flavors but with different aromas and intensity. Mint leaves should be fresh, not dried; they won't work as well if they've been sitting around for too long.
3 teaspoons sugar (optional)
1 teaspoon lime juice
2-3 teaspoons simple syrup, honey or maple syrup (optional)
Vodka, Rum & Gin for alcoholic mojito
STEP 1 In a small jug, muddle the lime juice, sugar, and mint leaves while crushing the mint with the end of a rolling pin. Add some ice to the large glass after pouring.
STEP 2 Add the soda, rum, or vodka (depending on your preference) and whisk with a long-handled spoon. Add soda water to the top, add mint, and serve.
Ice cubes
Ice cubes are needed to chill the drink. The ice cubes need to be crushed, not whole. They should be small, not large. The ice cubes should be clear, not cloudy (if you want your mojito to look like glass). And yes--it's better if they're cold when you put them in there!
Soda water to fill up your glass
Soda water can be found in the refrigerator section of most supermarkets and convenience stores. It looks like regular sparkling water, but it's actually made by mixing carbon dioxide with water. Soda water has no calories or sugar, making it a great alternative to alcohol!

and have a few on your own. They're an excellent drink to enjoy with friends
and family while watching a movie or listening to music. This recipe will make
enough so that everyone gets their own glass, but if you want more than one
person drinks then just multiply the ingredients accordingly.
